About the position

We are seeking a talented and mission-driven Geospatial Full Stack Developer to join our dynamic team at Neural. This position is an opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of geospatial science, software engineering, and scalable product innovation. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be involved in designing and developing the end-to-end architecture of AI-powered geospatial web applications that solve real-world challenges across diverse sectors including climate, risk analysis, government infrastructure, and smart cities.

You will work with a highly interdisciplinary team of data scientists, designers, domain experts, and engineers to create web-based platforms that seamlessly ingest, visualize, and analyze spatial data. Your role will span both front-end and back-end development, allowing you to implement engaging, performant user interfaces as well as robust backend services and APIs that process and serve complex spatial datasets. This is not just a coding job — it's a position for a builder who wants to help shape the way businesses and governments interact with spatial intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain responsive web applications that integrate geospatial data and mapping functionality using modern web and mobile technologies.
  • Design and implement user interfaces with a focus on geospatial visualizations using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and geospatial libraries (e.g., Leaflet, OpenLayers, Mapbox, Cesium, Deck.gl, Kepler.gl, D3.js).
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code to process and visualize geospatial data.
  • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and designers to translate design mockups and user stories into functional applications.
  • Implement backend logic, Restful APIs, data processing, and geospatial database integration using server-side languages and frameworks.
  • Optimize application performance for scalability, responsiveness, and geospatial data processing efficiency.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geospatial Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Data Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3+ years of experience as a Full Stack Developer, with at least 1 year of experience working with geospatial data and technologies.
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and frameworks/libraries (e.g., React.js, Vue.js, Nuxt.js).
  • Experience with geospatial databases such as Posgresql/postgis, Supabase, Mongodb
  • Experience with geospatial JavaScript libraries and APIs (e.g., Leaflet, OpenLayers, Mapbox, Cesium).
  • Experience with server-side languages and frameworks (e.g., Node.js, Python, Django, Flask, FastAPI) and geospatial back-end solutions (e.g., PostGIS, GeoServer).
  • Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases, including geospatial database management.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for geospatial data processing and storage.
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and geospatial data services.
  • Contributions to open-source geospatial projects or personal projects showcased on GitHub a big plus.
